Volgograd State Medical University is a national medical university directly under the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, established in 1935, formerly known as the Stalingrad Medical Research Institute. In the top ten comprehensive rankings of medical universities in Russia, the school is included in the World Health Organization's recognized list of medical universities, and all member countries of the World Health Organization recognize the degree certificates of the school. The school currently has more than 20000 students and over 1100 teachers in 87 departments. It has departments such as Basic Clinical Medicine, Stomatology, Pharmacy, and Advanced Doctor Training. Volgograd National Medical University is located in the city center. The institute was established in 1935 and was awarded the title of Academy of Sciences in 1993.
